Where LOST AT SEA OFF HARWICH Serving with MERCHANT NAVY
Age 33
Buried No Known Grave Remembered The Tower Hill Memorial (Part XIII), Not remembered of the School’s Memorial - THIS NEEDS CORRECTING* Born London, 1908 - only at the School for one term, reasons unknown. Very little is known of him or recorded in the archives, except that he was in the Third Form when he left. He joined the Merchant Navy between the wars and was lost on the S.S. “Vancouver”, a tanker, which hit an enemy mine in the North Sea off Harwich in September 1941. The ship became an inferno and no other vessel could approach it for days afterwards, only three out of the forty crew were saved.
