T HE B RIDSON B ROTHERS Charles (L) and John (R), both OSE, later lost in action. Charles dying of his wounds at Rouen 4 April 1916 and John at the battle of Loos 2 October 1915. This picture was taken circa. November 1914 when John, already wounded, was on sick leave.

A LFRED S PURLING first OSE killed in a major war, lost 18 November 1901, Roodeport, South Africa, fighting with Gorringe’s Scouts in the 2nd Boer War.

J OHN B USSELL ‘awaiting the call’ while stll a pupil. He would later be a teacher at the School, a double Oxford Rugby Football Blue and killed in the trenches, Belgium 1915.
