Born 1925. House Prefect, 2nd Rugby Football XV 1942, Rowing VIII 1943, Shooting VIII, Swimming Team, Corporal ATC, Lower Science VIth Form. Went up to Trinity College, Oxford 1943-4, Oxford Rowing Wartime Blue 1944. RAF Cranwell 1944, Aircraftman 2 R.A.F. 1944. Served in the service until 1953. Received the King’s Commendation in 1950. Saw action in Korean War 1953, winning the DFC, serving with 77 Squadron Royal Australian Air Force, flying Gloster Meteors. He joined the squadron on 7 November 1952 and went on to fly 123 sorties, 84 of which were ground attacks. His DFC notation quote:- Despite extreme hazards of ground fire, mountainous terrain and treacherous weather, this officer always displayed a conspicuous determination to inflict damage on the enemy and, through his skill and courage, has been outstandingly successful’. Tragically, he was killed just over a month after returning to Britain in July 1953 when the de Havilland Venom he was flying broke up in the air at Holbeach Range,
