Buried Knights Bridge War Cemetery, Acroma Remembered St. Peter-in-the-East Church, Oxford WW2 Memorial and The St. Edward’s School WW2 Memorial Born Headington, Oxon 1916, the son of a Professor. He was a House Prefect, in the 2nd Rowing VIII, School Play, a Lance Corporal in the OTC and in Form Vc. ‘During his four years at SES he endeared himself to everyone by his cheerful personality’ (Chronicle). In 1939 he joined the Scots Guards, then transferred with a commission to the Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in 1940. A year later he made another switch, this time to the RAFVR eventually qualifying as a Pilot Officer with 38 Squadron, Bomber Command, flying Wellington Bombers out of Malta. He was first reported as ‘missing’ then later as ‘killed’. Buried in Malta.
