Born 1922, the younger of two SES brothers. He was in the ‘Special’ Form when he left. ‘He was of cheerful disposition, anxious while at School to make his contribution to flying; this has been done since and now he has met his death in the service to the Royal Aid Force. He received his training in the United States and on his return to this country was posted as an instructor’ (Chronicle). He joined the RAFVR and undertook his training in the USA, returning to England later as a Flying Instructor before transferring to a Fighter Squadron (at his own request) in 1943. He was killed while taking off in a Typhoon Aircraft aircraft from his base in Warmwell, Dorset, then losing control and crash landing near Turville in Buckinghamshire. No explanation uncovered.
