Buried Le Grand Hasard Military Cemetery, Calais, France Remembered Lacock Wall Memorial, Wiltshire, the St. Edward’s School Chapel (Wooden Plaque) and the Cloisters Stone Memorial Born 1896 in Colesberg, Cape Colony, South Africa, youngest of two SES brothers, sons of a clergyman. He was the Cox of the School IV from 1910-12, and took the lead roles in several of the School’s Shakespearian epics. ‘He was very small which prevented him from involvement in many games but proved an excellent cox and very strong for his size. He was extremely active and fearless’ (Chronicle). He was in the IVth Form. He joined the 2nd/11th Battalion Wiltshire Yeomanry in 1915, seeing action in Palestine, transferring to the Norfolk Regiment as a Lieutenant in May 1918. He transferred to France in June 1918 and was shot by a sniper leading his company ‘in a victorious attack’ (Chronicle).
