Born Solihull, Warwickshire 1890. Very little is known of his time at SES which was very short (one term). His education was completed at King Edward’s Birmingham and Bedford Grammar School. After leaving education he was involved with the Stoll Office Press, holding the position of Assistant Manager at The Palace, Leicester. His main interests were drama and literature. He was joined up as a Private in the 12th (Service) Battalion, The Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex Regiment) in February 1916. He also served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders. He was killed during the Somme offensive in September 1916 at Deauville Wood (Devil’s Wood to the Tommies).
