Rowing at St. Edward's School, Oxford
The IB T he International Baccalaureate, allows pupils the opportunity to study a wider portfolio of subjects - 3 at Standard Level and 3 at Higher Level. Pupils can benefit from a more structured approach to study, with more classroom-based learning hours, which they find helpful especially if they have sporting commitments outside the classroom. Some pupils find the wider portfolio of subjects an attractive option to keep choices open for the future. At St. Edward’s we offer a wide range of IB subjects, including Psychology, and Sport Exercise and Health Science, which complement our sports coaching programmes very well. Around half our Sixth Formers study the IB, with the rest taking A Level courses. For more information about A Levels, visit the Sixth Form page of the website. Oxford St. Edward’s is set in the beautiful and culturally rich city of Oxford, which is an ever-present influence on school life. The University of Oxford, with which we have strong links, is a world-leading centre of learning, teaching and research and the oldest university in the English-speaking world. This compact city has many opportunities for pupils to enrich their education - an exhilarating range of exhibitions, concerts, gigs, theatre and academic talks are on offer. On our own doorstep is Summertown, a lively city suburb, with many useful amenities and attractions where pupils enjoy popping out of the School grounds to visit a café, or pick up essential supplies.
