Born 1887 at Blackheath, London the younger of two SES brothers, little is known of his time at the School except that he was in the VIth Form on leaving. In August 1914 he enlisted as a Lance Corporal in the 9th Signal Company of the Royal Engineers at Aldershot. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the “New Army” in February 1915, three months later transferring to the 10th Battalion, The Norfolk Regiment and was sent to East Africa. Once there he again transferred to the King’s African Rifles and was killed in action in January 1918 in Tanzania.
