Remembered Not on any St. Edward’s School Memorial* - NEEDS CORRECTING.
Born Derby 1925. He was a House Prefect, in the 2nd XI Cricket, a Librarian, a Flight Sergeant in the ATC and the Science VIth Form. Living the School in the middle of WW2 he immediately joined the Fleet Air Arm R.N.V.R. as a Midshipman in 1944, promoted to Sub Lieutenant a year later. He continued in the service after the war ended. He was killed in action during the Korean War in 1953. He was with 801 Squadron, off the aircraft carrier HMS ‘Glory’. The official record read as follows:- ‘On 28th November, Hawker Sea Furies lead by Lieutenant R. Neville-Jones in TF971 attacked the Sinwon Railway Bridge, but going off target he was hit by anti-aircraft fire and spun in flames onto the nearby mud flats’. Other records give his death as 18th November 1953.
