Born in Edinburgh 1917 the son of a Naval Commander. He was a House Prefect, in the Choir, School Play, Lance Corporal in the OTC and the Modern VIth Form. ‘He several times took part in the School Play and was a member of the Choir. On the athletic side he gave good service to his House, helping to win the Squash Racquets Cup in 1934 and the Senior Cricket Cup the same year’ (Chronicle). After leaving he studied for and gained a Diploma at the Royal Agriculture College at Cirencester. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the East Yorkshire Regiment (The Duke of York’s Own) in 1940 and two years later was an Acting Captain in rank, and was posted to the Desert Campaign where he was hospitalised (causes unknown) in Heliopolis, Egypt in December 1942. He later died in the same hospital and was buried there.
