Buried Reichswald Forest War Cemetery, Kelve, Germany Remembered The St. Edward’s School WW2 Memorial

Born Liverpool 1918, the elder of two SES brothers. He was in Shell C Form when he left. After leaving St. Edward’s he immediately joined the R.A.F.V.R. in 1936 and trained to be a Pilot Officer. By the time war broke out he was attached to 115 Squadron Bomber Command, flying Wellingtons. He was reported as missing in December 1940 following a raid over Hamm, North Westphalia in Germany. Later in June 1941, it was confirmed that his aircraft had been hit by enemy ground fire and destroyed. The official report read as follows :- ‘Shot down during a raid on Hamm Marshalling Yards’. The actual crash site was Lagendreer, Germany. There were no survivors.
