Buried The Alamein Cemetery Remembered The Alamein Memorial, El Alamein, Matrouh, Egypt and The St. Edward’s School WW2 Memorial Born Caldy, Wirral 1917, the eldest of three SES brothers. A member of the Rowing VIII 1935, a House Prefect, the Choir, Lance Corporal in the OTC, and the Modern VIth Form. ‘He had an infinite fund of humour, a spontaneity of act and word, the gift of infectious happiness and a simple and true love for his fellowmen’ (Chronicle). He joined the Cheshire Yeomanry in 1939, and was then commissioned in the 1st Gordons, Royal Armoured Corps, as a Second Lieutenant in 1941. Posted to the Middle East later in the year, he was badly wounded, later dying from his wounds in April 1941 while fighting with the 8th Army’s Rear Force.
