Born 1920, the elder of two SES brothers from a Worcestershire family. He was an Exhibitioner, House Prefect, a member of the Cricket XI 1937-9 (Captain 1939), Rugby Football XV 1939 Corporal OTC and in the History VIth Form. He joined the Royal Berkshire Regiment as a Private in 1940, but died a year later of pneumonia (in service) in September 1991 in England.
