Born 1920 in Birmingham, little is known of his time at the School as was there only a short time. When he left he was in the ‘Special Form’ and in the School Shooting VIII. He was an Accountant before joining up. He joined the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on being called up in 1939, and was a Sub Lieutenant on HMS “Arrow” by 1942. He was killed in action when his ship which was moored in Algiers Harbour next to an ammunition vessel “Fort La Montee” was blown up by enemy bombing. The “Arrow” was badly damaged and later towed to Gibraltar then Toronto for repairs. Eventually it was decided that further remedial work was worthless and declared a ‘hulk’ and was broken up in 1949.
