Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France, New Romney, Kent War Memorial, Choristers of All Saint’s Memorial, All Saint’s Church City of Westminster, The St. Edward’s School Chapel (Wooden Plaque) and The Cloisters Stone Memorial Born 1896 in New Romney, Kent, he was a member of the Rugby Football XV 1913, The Cricket XI 1912 and 1913 (the wicket-keeper) and in the Shell Form. He was in the process of taking Holy Orders when the the war broke out so instead enlisted as a Private in the 9th London Regiment (Victoria Rifles) in 1915. In the Summer of 1915 he was attached to the Machine Gun Section, The Queen’s Victoria Rifles in November 1915. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the 6th Battalion of the North Staffordshire Regiment in February 1916. Noted as being ill in a Le Havre Hospital in May 1916. He died in action near Albert, Belgium on the first day of the Battle of the Somme after a shell blew off his leg, which didn’t stop him continuing to fight with his revolver, until he expired. He has no known grave.
