Born 1884, he had a short and uneventful time at St. Edward’s, however was in the VIth Form on leaving. He went up to Merton College, Oxford then travelled out to South Africa in 1906 and by 1908 was living in Nairobi. When war commenced, he enlisted with the East African Mounted Infantry (Bowker’s Horse) and was killed soon after the war started in early November 1914, during a suicidal cavalry charge at Longido in East Africa. He was ‘shot in the head while trying to help a comrade’ (His Commanding Officer).
