Poetry Competition Winner Summer Days by Molly Nicholson
Waiting until the summer days. Waiting until the moment we are released. Pushing through the last exams. Ready to leave. Imagining the feeling of leaving all your work behind. Waiting desperately for summer to arrive. Ready to leave the clouds and rain. It’s finally here and time flies Packing for holidays but never unpacking Finding the stash of suncream, Its smell you have dreamt of Always in the water, Throwing on any clothes you can find Only to spend the day in a swimming costume Not a care for the world in the summer days.
Coming back with darker skin and lighter hair, Dreading the flight home. Dreading to go back. It feels too short. And before you know it, you’re back waiting for the moments to come back, Waiting until the summer days.
Congratulations also to our runners-up Ochiroo Zandanshatar and Lehaan Amarnani!
