Teddies at a Glance

Pupils use the Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Gym on school grounds. It features a 25-metre pool, indoor and outdoor tennis courts and the very latest in gym, fitness and spinning equipment.

St Edward’s has a dedicated Head of Dance, outstanding facilities, and a dazzling and highly active Dance Department. Around 1 in 4 pupils take dance – 200 in total, 20% of them boys.

Pupils choose from an extensive range of sports, including rowing, hockey, football, cricket, tennis, rugby, squash, athletics, badminton, swimming and netball. The curriculum is designed to develop talent and skills, and promote lifelong engagement in sport. From national competitions to playing for fun, girls’ and boys’ engagement in sport is high.

North Oxford’s fashionable Summertown is two minutes from School. Pupils and staff alike enjoy its many cafés and independent shops, and the convenience of nearby supermarkets and pharmacies. Oxford city centre is five minutes away by bus or bicycle.

To celebrate our 160 year anniversary, we are aiming to increase our free or significantly subsidised places to 160.

Every year the School takes at least one show to the Edinburgh Fringe – the largest arts festival in the world.

Pupils join us from around 60 different schools of all types and many have never boarded before, so everyone is looking to make new friends and connections.

Wellbeing for our whole community is paramount: we’ve introduced a new wellbeing programme and recently appointed a Director of Wellbeing and School Psychologist. Pupils and staff all look out for each other.
