43 ST EDWARD’S CHRONICLE

Golf By Simon Roche, Master i/c Golf

The Golf Club is going from strength to strength and 2019 was a successful season for the team. Taking advantage of the clement weather in September and October, St Edward’s won its fixtures v Magdalen College School and Marlborough, which were played at The Oxfordshire and Marlborough golf courses respectively. We narrowly lost to Stowe in the Independent Schools’ Matchplay at Stoke Park; Jack Parry (9), Josh Thomas (8) and Howell Zhang (12) pushed a very strong Stowe side close, with two matches all square going up the last hole. We now look to our fixtures in the summer and the boys have been training hard with Dean Davis, our professional. Other pupils who represented the School were Johnson Zhang, Oli Degroot, Sam Morris and Oli Healy. With all bar one of these players able to represent the School next year and a burgeoning membership of the Golf Club, the future of the sport at Teddies is bright.
