Athletics By Head of Athletics, Becky Drury

2019 was another hugely successful season for the Athletics team with both the seniors and juniors achieving a huge number of personal bests and breaking many records across all disciplines. The boys’ 1st team, captained by Fergus Flory, produced excellent performances and regularly placed in the top three in fixtures at Harrow, Marlborough and Abingdon during the season, as well as winning the Marlborough Nitro Athletics Event. Their season included an array of excellent performances including Felix Burton running a very good time of 53.6s to win the 400m at Harrow and Fergus Flory winning all his races at Harrow and Marlborough in the 800m, culminating in a new personal best of 2:03m. Max Liddy ran well achieving 11.3s in the 100m at Harrow to finish third. The throwing was strong at each fixture with good wins from Cameron King in the Discus and Harry

Power in the Shot. The jumpers are not to be forgotten either: there were superb efforts from Louis Williams winning the Long Jump at Marlborough, Max Liddy was second in the Long Jump at Harrow and Seb Williams won the High Jump at Abingdon

with a new personal best of 1.75m and came second at both Harrow and Marlborough. A special mention must go to Matt Whittaker who jumped an astonishing 1.85m to set a new inter boys High Jump record at the City Schools.
