Spotlight 25-26
WEEK A
SHELL RUNNER UP
By Anonymous
Love is love, a dove that lightens every strife. Love is life, a flame that kindles distant light. Love is to try, a promise set in wary eyes.
My heart goes 200 when I see you, a bright drumbeat-near to flame, Not real till you’re here; then love can find its true, divided aim.
My heart goes 200 when I see you, a bright echo in the frame. Love is the language of the soul; in glances, breaths, and sighs we claim.
I’ve seen the frost kissed moonlit panes, bright vows in glass that never truly fade. The harbour bells confess a deep longing kept by slow, slow time. I trace your shadow where lanterns spill their gold, and name the air.
Unreturned love is blind; returned love is kind. Unreturned love is nigh; returned love is time. Life is short; life is unfulfilled without love.
Love comes from the least likely place-give people a chance; they, I, might surprise you. In the quiet between notes, you’re the echo that steadies the rouse. Even the bustling street holds still when I glimpse your face in a crowd. If work and world collide, your smile is the shore where I drop anchor. The tide of midnight softens when your breath finds mine in sync. A single laugh becomes a lantern, guiding me through the dark and doubt Let dawn arrive with your name on the glass of every window I pass.
When silence stretches long, I measure it in breaths until you return. The map of my days redraws itself around the shape of you. Till your footsteps sound,
I wait. With patient, Hopeful measure.
