OXFORD LIFE

Go on a Margherita Mission Oxford is blessed with a plethora of brilliant pizza restaurants. Why not challenge yourself to find the very best? Try local favourite, Mamma Mia on South Parade, before venturing further afield. The White Rabbit, just around the corner from the Oxford Playhouse, is legendary for its gluten-free bases. On George Street you will find Franco Manca, a pizzeria specialising in pizzas made from slow-rising sourdough. Finally, scale the heights of the Westgate to sample the Neapolitan-style pizza served up at Pizza Pilgrims. If you’re feeling indulgent try the Nutella pizza ring – delicious dough filled with chocolate and hazelnut spread and salted ricotta.

Ashmolean Museum Young Rembrandt 27th February–7th June Daily, 10.00am–5.00pm

College Garden Worcester College Daily, 2.00–4.00pm

Worcester’s gardens are particularly beautiful at this time of year. Make your way through the archway in the front quad (containing some of the oldest buildings in Oxford) and towards the lake to spot rare snowdrops nestled in the lawns like gems. While you're there take a moment to check out the College Chapel (pictured), richly decorated by William Burges in 1864 – the pew ends are particularly charming, finished with beasts including a unicorn and a blue whale.

This major exhibition will be the first in the UK to explore the early years of the career of the most famous of all Dutch artists,

Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669). Beginning with his earliest known

paintings, prints and drawings, made in his native Leiden in the mid-1620s, and ending at the moment he rocketed to stardom in Amsterdam in the mid-1630s, this exhibition will chart an astonishing transformation.
