The music curriculum at School 21 is centred around five core practices; ensemble, community, mastery, creativity and flow, which are embodied and explored differently as students progress through the different stages of their education. During the middle school phase (ages 9-13), students experience the core practices through the lens of a band project, where students take part in an immersive ensemble curriculum as part of a wind band, big band or string orchestra. He’s worked with Grammy Award- winning artists Bill Laurance, Snarky Puppy and Dan Zanes, as well as the London Philharmonia and London Contemporary Orchestra. Felix is as a founding member of the critically acclaimed group Low Island, who’ve recently played Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and Lollapalooza; and feature regularly on BBC 6 Music and Radio 1. He’s worked extensively on West End and National Theatre productions, and his playing can be heard on records for artists such as Songhoy Blues, BANKS and Julian Lennon. Felix is an advocate for Artist’s Rights, working closely with the UK trade body The Featured Artist Coalition and running workshops for musicians at RNCM and SAE Institute on navigating an increasingly complex music industry. Sarah Tenant- Flowers In the field of choral conducting Sarah is an internationally recognised performer and teacher. The versatile array of professional and amateur groups with which she has worked includes the Hilliard Ensemble, Chamber Choir Ireland, Cape Town Philharmonic Choir, English Baroque and Reading Bach Choirs, Harlow Chorus, and the choirs of the RWCMD Conservatoire. As guest chorusmaster she has prepared numerous choirs including the BBC Symphony Chorus for Proms performances under Andrew Davis and Ed Gardner and directs the Dubai Opera Festival Chorus. In addition to directing the Oxfordshire chamber choir NC3, Sarah regularly works as guest conductor for groups such as Commotio and VoxCantab, with the CBSO’s community choir SOVocal and London’s Whitehall Choir. Formerly General Manager of The Sixteen and a founder Director of the Association of British Choral Directors, Sarah is in huge demand as a teacher, tutoring for Trinity College Oxford, the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Sing for Pleasure, and ABCD. She featured as conducting mentor to actor Bradley Walsh on BBC2’s popular TV series Maestro . As a singer Sarah performs throughout the UK with leading professional female consort Papagena. Christchurch and Three Choirs festivals and collaborations with the Orchestra of the Swan in Stratford and Birmingham. Jack Thompson Jack Thompson is Head of
Academic Music at St Edward’s School, Oxford where, away from the classroom, he also conducts the school’s choral society and chapel choir. He has been Director of Music at St Mary’s Church, Chelsea since 2016, and has given organ recitals at Durham Cathedral, Westminster Cathedral and St John’s College, Cambridge, as well as appearing twice as a soloist for HM The Queen.
