Buried Le Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial Cemetery, Seine, France Remembered Le Ferte Sous-Jouacre Memorial, The St. Edward’s School Chapel (Wooden Plaque) and The Cloisters Stone Memorial Born in Pershaw, Worcestershire 1882, the younger son of a Lieutenant-Colonel in the regular army. He had a short and uneventful career at the School, a member of the Cricket XI in 1898, the Rugby Football XV in 1899 and was in the Lower Moderns Form. After leaving the School he joined the Royal Navy for a short time in 1901 serving on HMS “Worcester”, then transferred to the army, commissioned in the 5th (Special Reserve) Worcester Regiment in 1909. With the outbreak of hostilities he was a Lieutenant with the 5th Worcesters and was reported ‘missing’ in September 1914 during the Battle of the Aisne, the first major clash of The Great War. He was confirmed as dead later in the month after his body was found. His brother (non OSE) was also killed in the war.
