Buried Lewisham, England Remembered St. Edward’s School Chapel (Wooden Plaque ) - added in 2017, St. Edward’s School Cloisters Stone Memorial Born 1892 in Bath, one of two SES sons, their father being a clergyman. When he left he was in the Shell Form. After leaving St. Edward’s he served an engineering apprenticeship at the London and The South Western Railway Shops at Southampton, later becoming a fully qualified engineer. In 1911, he undertook religious instruction and was ordained Deacon at Trinity in 1912 by the Bishop of Southwark. Appointed a Curate at St. Mark’s, Lewisham, Priest the following year serving as Chaplain of All Saints’ Boys Orphanage. Once war broke out he combined his religious duties with clerical and other work connected with munitions at Woolwich Arsenal . It was while doing this dual work, he was killed in a collision between his motor-cycle and a ‘motor-omnibus’ on his way home from Woolwich.
