Born in London 1883, and only at the School one term, he was in the Upper IIIrd Form on leaving. . His older brother Clarence stayed longer - 3 years. He was a motor engineer working in London and joined the Royal Flying Corps in July 1916 as a Second Lieutenant attached to No 1 Naval Squadron, British Expeditionary Force. Promoted to Lieutenant (Equipment) 1st Class - June 1917 and to Captain in April 1918. It was at this stage that he transferred to the Royal Air Force. He was badly wounded in action over France in November 1918, hospitalised but actually died of his wounds after the official armistice. He was a married man with a daughter.
