Born 1921 in Lambeth, London, the younger of two SES brothers and the grandson of another. House Prefect, 2nd Rowing VIII, L/Cpl OTC, Lower VIth Form He was called up immediately on leaving the School and joined 235 Squadron, Bomber Command RAFVR (Blenheims) 1941, qualifying as a Pilot. He was killed, in action over Norfolk in April 1941 and no further information is known. He was buried at Great Bircham Cemetery, Norfolk. ‘He was always so full of energy and life. Some pictures of him will always stand out in my memory - sitting chin in hand in form: making a low hard tackle at football; coming into my room with a tall tale about a broken window’ (Gerry Sugar, his House Master).
