Buried Menin Gate Cemetery, Ypres, Leper, West Flanders, Belgium Remembered Menin Gate Memorial, The St. Edward’s School Chapel (Wooden Plaque) and The Cloisters Stone Memorial Born 1879, in South Witham, Lincolnshire, the fifth son of a very eccentric clergyman with an enormous family. One brother also went to St. Edward’s and was killed in The Great War. Like his brother, he went to Sandhurst in 1900, passing out in 1903. A married man in 1906. Commissioned in the 3rd Battalion Leicestershire Regiment and a Captain by the time The Great War erupted. Immediately in action in France, he was Mentioned in Dispatches, the reported ‘wounded and missing’ in October 1914. Confirmed as ‘killed in action’ in early November 1914 at Wytschaete in Flanders.
