It’s been a busy cricket season for Hugh Rogers, Vice-President of the Martyrs CC and a stalwart of Martyrs cricket, who was selected this summer to represent the England Over 60s Chairman’s XI in their fixture against Australia, as part of the Grey Ashes series.
Sir Michael is made KCVO by King Charles III.
This July, Sir Michael was made Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (KCVO) by King Charles III upon his retirement as Comptroller of the Royal Household.The Royal Victorian Order recognises exceptional service to the Monarch or Royal Family. Sir Michael was appointed KCVO at the Palace of Holyroodhouse following his 46 years of service, 35 years in the Coldstream Guards and 11 years with the Royal Household.
Following his performance against Australia, Hugh was asked to represent the England Lions Over 60s in their fixture against Wales B, held on 17th July. Congratulations Hugh!
During these years, Sir Michael was heavily involved in the organisation and operations of many major state occasions including the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, the funeral of the late Duke of Edinburgh during Covid and the Coronation of King Charles III. He now retires to live at home in the Scottish Borders with his wife Mhairi.
