MARTYRS SPORTS DAY GOLF AT NORTH OXFORD GOLF CLUB Report by Charlie Reid (Segar’s, 1973-1978)
T he now annual Martyrs Golf match was played at North Oxford Golf as part of Martyrs Sports Day.The weather was warm and sunny and the course was in good condition, even after all the recent rain.The match was keenly contested by the two teams with some good golf played. Playing four-ball better-ball matchplay, most of the games went down to the last couple of holes.The first game was won by the Martyrs, followed by two wins for the School in games two and three.With everything now resting on the final game the Martyrs levelled the match to make the final score 2 -2 and the trophy was shared for the second year in a row.
