through innovation, hard work and determination, they had achieved. Flight100 was not only an important moment for our family and Virgin Atlantic but for the wider aviation industry. The buzz throughout the flight was incredible. Sharing that historic flight with crew members, engineers, the sustainability teams and of course my very proud dad was an experience I will never forget. What were some of the biggest challenges in getting this flight off the ground – logistically, technically, or personally? As with anything truly groundbreaking you don’t get there overnight. It takes years of research, failures, small wins and the help of many, many partners. As Shai, our CEO said on the day: ‘ It’s taken years of radical collaboration to get here and we are proud to have reached this important milestone, but we need to push further .’ Flight100 proved that sustainable jet fuel can be used as a drop-in replacement for jet fuel. The greatest challenge the team (and all airlines) faced and continue to face is that there is simply not enough sustainable aviation fuel. We all need to work together to lobby governments in the UK and US to change policy and to attract the investors needed to change aviation for all future generations.
