Rhubarb December 2025
You raised an incredible amount – over £20,000 between you. What impact will the money have? Thanks to hundreds of generous donors, the race has smashed its original target and now stands at more than £85,000. Our share will help the TEA Project open a new ICT classroom, giving tea plantation village children their first hands-on access to computers. The remainder goes to the Carlie Tufnell Charitable Trust, founded by Carlie’s parents, Mark and Jane, and focused on causes he cared about deeply: K Promoting positive mental health – funding safe-spaces, suicide-prevention helplines and walk-in centres such as Papyrus, James’ Place and TIC Plus. Opening doors to arts and culture – backing projects like Music Works and financing an annual, five-year film grant that gives a Central Film School graduate the means to make their debut short. (The inaugural winner was premiéred at BFI Southbank in December 2023.) K

Did you have a favourite moment – or even a favourite wrong turn – during the race? Side-quests earned bonus minutes off the teams’ final times, and our favourite sent us looking for “Sri Lanka’s best waterfall.” Two hours, five wrong turns and one impromptu cricket match later, a farmer guided us through the forest behind his house to a hidden waterfall outside Kandy. After a quick climb and a swim we were back on the road.
Their fundraising efforts have been impressive, contributing to the £85,000 raised for two fantastic causes

Are you planning any more challenges or trips?
Yes. Carlie’s Crossing two is in the works for 2026 and we’re hoping to have more details to share soon! Favourite Teddies memory? We weighed up plenty of moments trying to decide on one – Shell Plays, finishing our GCSEs, triumphs on Upper 1, the Leavers’ Ball – but House Shout in the Old Hall came out on top in the end. Whether it was belting out ‘Summer Nights’ from Grease or ‘Year 3000’ by Busted, coming together as a by Busted, coming together as a House in these moments was always special.
