58 ST EDWARD’S CHRONICLE

Golf By Simon Roche, Head of Golf

The Golf Club has achieved considerable success in recent months. The early weeks of the Autumn Term saw sessions on Monday afternoons in glorious September sunshine and, as the weather turned, a core group of players continued their training at the driving range. Three of these players went on to represent the School in the Independent School’s Matchplay in October, a knockout Stableford tournament. With victories against Bloxham and RGS Worcester, the team made it to the National Finals day. Credit here to Angus Graham (Captain), Mo Madrian and Harry Frost. Angus, now in the Upper Sixth, joined the School in the Shells interested in golf but without clubs and not having played much. Thanks to his hard work in his spare time on the School’s golf course he now has a handicap of 15 and scored 41 points at Broadway Golf Club on one day in late December. Mo (Lower Sixth) – who started learning golf on the school course during the lockdown – and Harry Frost (Fourth Form) have been stand-out players this year.
