Refresh of the Book Box: Perspectives

You can enjoy the whole Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi, available in the Library! Full of danger and mystery, this is dystopian fiction at its best! The Book Box has been fully restocked with a range of fiction and non-fiction! Our highlight shelf (right at the top) is all about Perspectives: novels that invite us to look at life from a different angle. Reading fiction offers us a unique opportunity to step into the lives of others, develop empathy, and learn lessons from people whose experiences might be very different from our own. You’ll meet characters like the family in Selma Debbagh’s Out of It , divided between Gaza and London, or the courageous protagonist of Jeanine Cummins’ American Dirt , forced to flee Mexico in search of safety in the United States. Stop in and have a browse this week!

The first book of a new spin-off series set ten years after the events of Shatter Me . James Anderson had a plan. Or half of one. He managed to do what his older brother, the famous Aaron Warner Anderson, never did: infiltrate Ark Island, the last refuge of The Reestablishment. No outsider has breached the stronghold of the authoritarian regime, but James is in. In a prison cell, sure, but as far as James is concerned, a win is a win.
