Library Spotlight Through the Looking Glass... And Back Again! WEEK A
WEEK BEGINNING 17/03/25
March 13th: Wonderland On Thursday, March 13th Ms Eldred and Mr Gormley invited 70 pupils to the Hatter’s Tea Party in Big School as part of the library’s World Book Day celebrations! The evening went by in a blur of card tower races, flying birds, delicious desserts (courtesy of the amazing Teddies catering team), and a riddle-tastic quiz! We think Lewis Carroll would have been very proud indeed...! Putting such a big event together takes a lot of advanced preperation, on the right hand page are some pictures showing the process. Thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a success!
Books of the Week: Wonderland Reimagined
Staying on brand after our Wonderland event, our three Books of the Week are variations on the Alice in Wonderland theme. Camille Rose Garcia’s strikingly illustrated edition of the original Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland adds a new dimension to the classic tale - if you haven’t yet read it, here’s a great place to start! Our two further recommendations put a spin on Alice’s story. In Heartless , Marissa Meyer explores how an ordinary girl, Catherine Pinkerton, becomes the tyrannical Queen of Hearts. Liz Braswell’s Unbirthday (the tenth instalment in her excellent Twisted Tales series) is a sinister take on the story, in which an adult Alice, haunted by her childhood, is forced to return to a Wonderland on the verge of collapse...
