WELCOME

Welcome to Avenue House We are all looking forward to your daughter starting at Teddies and to getting to know her. She can be assured of a warm welcome in Avenue, where we aim to be a place of kindness and mutual respect, a home-from-home for each of our girls, and a warm and supportive community. We value joy and laughter, fun and friendships just as much as the hard work that our girls put in. When I first joined Teddies, I felt a little apprehensive about coming to a bigger school than my previous one, but I very soon felt at home; I was delighted by how friendly and supportive everyone was. When welcoming new girls, I always remember those early days and try to ensure that each of our girls has as good an experience settling in as I did myself. I am always here to help and support you as parents, and will generally be the first port of call when you have questions or concerns. As Housemistress, I have overall responsibility for your daughter’s wellbeing at Teddies – emotional wellbeing as well as academic progress and involvement in co-curricular activities. Helping me with this, I am fortunate to have the support of a great team in Avenue: Assistant HM Louise Duffy; House Matron Annie Barker; Resident Tutor Jack Davies, and an excellent backup team of domestic staff and visiting tutors. All are dedicated to ensuring that our girls are treated with kindness and fairness, feel at home, and flourish in Avenue and Teddies.

Yvette Ramadharsingh Avenue Housemistress (HM)

I joined Teddies in 2015 and have been HM in Avenue since 2018. Alongside running the House, I am the Director of Behavioural and Standards, I teach economics and coach hockey, netball and tennis. I enjoy travelling in Britain and Europe and I cross at least part of Northern Spain on foot each year on the pilgrims’ camino. I return to my family home in Trinidad once or twice a year, which gives me a refreshing change of perspective to bring back to my Oxford home here in Avenue.
