WELCOME

Welcome to Apsley House. I am very much looking forward to getting to know each of you and to help you settle in quickly and to flourish during your time here at Teddies. I want Apsley to feel like a home away from home. As Housemistress, I look forward to fostering a kind, supportive, curious, and welcoming atmosphere. A place in which each pupil can be true to themselves, build strong relationships with peers and staff alike and realise their full potential. My job is to support and oversea your emotional and social wellbeing, your academic progress and involvement in the co-curricular life of the school. I am supported by a fantastic team – the Apsley Assistant HM Ross Simmonds, the House Matron Beth Hilsdon, the Resident Tutors Dr Adam Chambers and Andrew Shiel Dods and the entire House tutor team. It is a real joy to have a front row seat in seeing all the pupils in Apsley mature and develop enroute to discovering their strengths and passions. It is my priority to ensure that you all have the opportunity to fulfil your potential and strive to become the best version of yourselves. All you need to do is to be yourself, be kind, have integrity and courage. Be open to the new opportunities on offer and be open to the House staff who are all here to listen, to support and to help you throughout your time. I hope you find this handbook helpful in finding out more about the day-to-day life of the House. I joined Teddies in 2016 to teach Mathematics and have been HM in Apsley since 2024. Alongside my HM and teaching roles, I coach netball, tennis and hockey. When I’m not in the boarding house, classroom or on the sports field, I am out enjoying time with my husband, Scott and our two boys swimming, camping or travelling.
