MARTYRS BOATCLUB GODSTOW REGATTA

17th August 2024 Report by Max Thompson (Sing’s, 2016-2018) O n Saturday 17th August St Edwards Martyrs Boat Club hosted its first-ever OSE regatta – the inaugural Godstow Regatta, serving as this year's replacement to the usual Oxford City Royal Regatta. There was a great turnout with 20 OSE racing in five coxless 4s in a round-robin style event, ensuring each crew had four races. The crews were mixed to ensure there were men and women of various ages in each boat, with attendees ranging from 2024 leavers to 2015 leavers!

several races being decided by incredibly close margins. Special congratulations go to the winning 4: Rory McDonnell (Apsley, 2019-2023), Hugo Marsh (Apsley, 2011-2015), Josh Moore (Cowell’s, 2015-2019) and Barnaby Singfield (Sing’s, 2015-2019).After racing was concluded, all the crews enjoyed a BBQ at the Boat House in the sun!

MARTYRS Cricket David Drake-Brockman Memorial Match 14th April 2024 T he cricket season kicked off in April, with the annual David Brake-Brockman Memorial Match. David was a much-loved teacher at Teddies from 1979-2007, who sadly died in 2009. The School XI won the toss and elected to bat first. Special congratulations should go to Dylan Driscoll (Sing’s, 2019-2024) who scored 150 for the School side when they declared on 268.The result was a draw, with the Martyrs scoring 249 for 9 (Trowbridge 56, Drake-Brockman 52).

Harry Trowbridge (Field House, 2017-2022), Will Deasy (Kendall, 2012-2017),Toby Kershaw (Segar’s, 2017-2022); Stanley Brown (Segar’s, 2017-2022), James Drake-Brockman (Segar’s, 1988-1993) and George West (Sing’s, 2015-2020).
