Doughnuts filled with Portuguese custard are on offer as well as traditional tarts - Pastel de Nata - made by artisan pastry chefs (you can choose a topping of icing sugar or cinnamon sachet to sprinkle yourself ). Listen out for the special bell, which is rung when there are freshly baked tarts. Crosstown Doughnuts, Ship Street Handcrafted fresh doughnuts made from a signature hybrid sourdough (the world’s first yeast-raised sourdough base) and now with a vegan option. All the jams, compotes, fillings, glazes and toppings are made in-house. Temptations Dessert Lounge, Summertown Did you know that every Thursday at Temptations, artisan doughnuts arrive from Pippin, a special bakery? A family business, their doughnuts are handmade from rich leavened dough; the fillings ooze and the glazes shine!
Myths and Minotaurs Ashmolean Museum
Discover the palace of Knossos, and find out about the search for the legendary labyrinth built to hold a ferocious minotaur, in this fantastic exhibition. The first UK exhibition to focus on Knossos ‘Labyrinth: Knossos, Myth and Reality’ will include over 100 objects which have never left Crete and Greece before, alongside discoveries from the Ashmolean’s Sir Arthur Evans Archive.
