Weekends at Teddies Autumn Term 2023

Colour Revolution Rediscover Victorian society as a vibrant colour-filled era in this major exhibition at the Ashmolean - from dazzling dyes used in fashion garments to bold experiments by avant-garde painters and the flamboyant use of nature’s beauty in jewellery. New scientific breakthroughs as a result of the industrial revolution enabled the Victorians to become increasingly revolutionary in their use of colour. Showcasing works by artists including Ruskin, Rossetti and Whistler, contrasting fashion pieces from Queen Victoria’s monotone mourning dress to the most daringly vivid clothing and accessories, and objects from around the world, this major exhibition will transport you back to this ground-breaking era. Ashmolean Museum, 21st September 2023–18th February 2024. Daily, 10.00am–5.00pm
