Weekends Autumn 2024

WARDEN’S INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the Autumn Term at St Edward’s. The start of the new academic year is an exciting

Our location in Oxford, the educational capital of the world, is an extraordinary advantage: it offers countless opportunities for independence and inspiration. The museums, galleries, libraries, and colleges of the city centre are just five minutes from the School by bicycle or by bus. Oxford’s history is the theme for the annual Shell Treasure Hunt on the first weekend of the term. You will also find in the centre of this booklet our recommendations for places to visit in Oxford and the events and exhibitions this term which you might like to explore as a family. Whether your children are by themselves or with you, whether they are staying in to enjoy an event at School or heading out to experience Oxford, whether they are spending time in a museum, talking with friends in a café, taking in a film at the cinema or just soaking up the atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon, weekends at Teddies are special. I hope that you and your children enjoy them this term. Alastair Chirnside

time for all of us at Teddies,

as we look ahead to a year of learning, opportunity, friendship and fun. It is also a time for making plans, and that is the purpose of this brochure about weekends at Teddies. We hope you enjoy looking through it, anticipating the wide range of exciting events to come this term and perhaps adding some of them to your diary. Weekend events at Teddies not only offer pupils the chance for further engagement in the co-curriculum, they also give families a chance to take part in school life by attending events which bring our community together. Join us on the playing fields for the annual Steeplechase, in the Olivier Hall for Our House (this year’s dance musical), or in Chapel for the festive Carol Services which mark the end of term and the beginning of the Christmas holidays.

Notes on the Weekend Programme All Chapel services and activities are open to families.

Sports fixtures are listed online; see the website for full calendar details. Exhibitions in The North Wall are open 12.00 – 4.00pm on Saturday (closed to the public on Sunday; pupils may visit the Gallery at any time). For weekday opening hours visit the website. stedwardsoxford.org | thenorthwall.com
