Scaling new Heights In November, the Climbing Team entered their first competition of the season at Big Rock in Milton Keynes. There were notable performances from Oliver Ferneyhough ( Caldicott ), Arthur Churchill ( Dulwich Prep ) and William Webb ( Dragon ) who came 2nd, 9th and 10th in their respective categories. Below, William in action.

The Rugby Club enjoyed a very strong season with a positive following from the pupils allowing more teams to be fielded than in recent years. As a club it is important to emphasise that success is not determined by outcome alone but by ensuring that our pupils have a rewarding experience and develop as young men by upholding the values and spirit of the game. Reflecting on last term it can be strongly argued that it was a very successful one indeed having created an environment for elite development as well as wider participation and enjoyment. Many of the ‘A’ teams had particularly strong seasons: the Colts A XV played 10 and won 8 whilst the 15Bs, coached by Mr Glass, were impressive with their record of played 9, won 6. The most successful team this season was the 1st XV, captained by Jake Anderson ( The Warriner ) and coached by Andy Dalgleish and Jeremy Mather, with their record of played 11, won 8 - the most successful 1st XV season since 2005. The following members of the 1st XV were awarded their Rugby Colours: Andy Wyles ( Dulwich Prep London ), AJ Woodland ( Davenies ), Erik Bagger ( Caldicott ), Teddy Maithai ( Papplewick ), Angus Atkinson ( Dragon ) and Dan Brady ( The Warriner ). Across the Rugby Club it was not the results that impressed me most but the continued attitude and application of those boys who took to the field. Rugby has become a brutally physical sport at all levels in recent years and I admire those pupils who, week after week, run out wearing the Cup and Dagger to represent the School and give nothing but 100% effort. They are all courageous young men.
