2008 Sam Baker (B, 2006-2008) is working for Somerset Opera and also a pop up opera company called Opera-in-a-box. He is Music Director for La Traviata which was performed in February and also La Bohème (touring dates in the summer). With the Somerset Opera Group, he has directed their last three touring operas, with performances across Somerset. As well as these part-time music projects, he is also a founding member of the Stella Maris Trio. They recently had a four-day concert tour of Oxford/Buckinghamshire, performing at Blenheim Palace and his old college in Oxford (Pembroke), which he says was a nice trip down memory lane. Aside from this freelance music activity Sam teaches full time at Taunton Preparatory School, with responsibility for music classes, piano and singing lessons, and choral conducting across the Prep School. A full and rich musical life inspired by the buzz and frenetic musical activity he was exposed to whilst a music scholar at Teddies!

their TVs and not buy excessive wire. I have used the skills of welding I learnt in the DT department to weld the rear axle of my Hilux and an understanding of basic biology to cultivate my fields on the farm I own here. These to name but a few. I was at Teddies under Warden Christie, a tough but fair man. My housemaster was Vaughan Abigail. I was fortunate enough to visit the school in 2016 with my wife on a visit to the UK. Later this month (December) I will be hosting an event (cavalgada) to inaugurate my livery business here. The event involves the local community who have been very accepting and kind to me. I was far from a model student but without the teaching and support staff I would not be here today. The San and kitchen and grounds staff played a key role in helping me become the man I am today. Teddies taught me to value all elements of the world we live in.” 2006 Pippa Bennett-Warner (J, 2001-2006) played DC Heidi Bailey in the most recent series of Silent Witness on BBC One. Jacob Levene (E, 2001-2006) has been in touch with the OSE Office and is arranging to come back to School to speak to the Lower 6th via James Vaughn- Fowler. He remembers various talks from OSE when he was at School and feels that his less traditional career path after leaving school may resonate with some pupils and offer some ideas for those that are undecided in what to do when they leave. Since leaving Jacob has received a MA (Psychology) and served in the Royal Marines Commando and fought in Afghanistan in 2010. He has been a bodyguard to Donald Trump, Iraqi influentials and other persons of interest, attended the Rolls Royce apprenticeship programme and is currently a medical technician for London Ambulance Service. Libby Papakyriacou (née Northcote- Green) (K, 2001-2006) wrote to let us know that having had amazing support from the Music Department at Teddies, she went on to study music at university and is now Marketing Manager at the London Philharmonic Orchestra. In her spare time, she put her skills to use by organising a gala fundraising concert at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in January 2018, raising a substantial amount

of money for the Refugee Council’s Children’s Services. Teddies’ own Neville Creed was also involved as the chorus master for the choir at the concert. 2007 Daniela Devenish (M, 2002-2007) completed her second degree in June 2017 and graduated from the University of Southampton with the degree of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. Daniela started her foundation year one working for the Isle of Wight NHS Trust at St. Mary’s Hospital, Newport.  Danielle Green (D, 2002-2007) wrote to tell us that in August 2017 she worked on a Junior Choral Course at Wellington as a pastoral member of staff. On the course, Danielle worked alongside Daniel Turner who was her music teacher when she was a pupil in Shell and 4th form. Attending the course itself was Tiggy Jones, the current Warden’s daughter and they sent in this photo.
