A Level Geography at St Edwards aims to create a dynamic, inclusive, and academically rigorous curriculum that prepares our pupils for the global challenges of tomorrow. It is driven by a desire to forge community, embrace diverse academic perspectives and create active global citizens who understand the interconnected physical, socio-political, cultural, and economic systems of the world. In this sense, Geography has never been more important in its search for social cohesion and equality as a bridge between disciplines. Pupils of A Level Geography will therefore develop the cultural literacy to become leaders of the future, grounded in an ethos of collaboration, by looking at a range of topics covering the physical processes of the planet and human societies in local, national and global contexts. • Developing and applying knowledge of geographical theories and processes to interpreting global issues • Developing a sense of space and place • Enhancing an understanding of the world as complex, dynamic and interconnected between human and natural environments • Developing as a global citizen who acknowledges contemporary global challenges, critically engages with different perspectives and actively tries to improve the world • Creating logical arguments through extended writing and argumentation Topics covered include: hydrology and river processes; climate change; earth processes and hazards; water resource management; population and migration; urban areas; coastal environments; geographies of disease and global interdependence.
