The Shell Music curriculum is designed to broaden and deepen the musical understanding of all pupils, no matter how experienced they are as performers. Over the course of the year, you will study a variety of musical genres, ranging from Romantic orchestral repertoire to music from non-Western cultures (Indonesian Gamelan, West African drumming), from early jazz to film music, and from Minimalism to 21st-century pop music. The development of the key skills of performing, composing and analysing

use of Music Technology. The Shell curriculum is devised in such a way as to provide a strong foundation for both GCSE Music and for our Music Technology and Popular Music Pathway course, both of which are available in the Fourth Form.

Physical Education

All pupils take part in PE lessons in the Shell year at Teddies. These are timetabled lessons outside the concurrent games programme. The syllabus offers a range of activities that help to promote greater physical competencies to ensure that pupils can engage in sport safely and for a long time! You will bounce between blocks in athletic development, swimming,

spatial awareness games and even some gymnastics. The Shell PE programme is taught by our sports professionals and strength and conditioning team.
