Ashmolean Museum Pissarro: Father of Impressionism 18th February–22nd June Daily, 10.00am–5.00pm

This exhibition will look at the long and varied career of Camille Pissarro, from his early work, schooled by Corot and Courbet, to his later impressionist pieces. Pissarro’s famously said, “Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where other people see nothing” and his approach to painting, showing beauty the commonplace, a shocking concept at the time, was hugely influential for many artists, including Claude Monet and Paul Cézanne.
