61 ST EDWARD’S CHRONICLE

Yearlings Rugby The Yearlings had a relatively good start to their rugby journeys across the year group. It has been great to see so many of the boys exploring their capabilities and enjoying their rugby. The Yearlings A team faced some challenging opposition through the year but had great wins against MCS (17-7), Bloxham (22-17) and a huge win against Malvern (51-17) to finish the season. There have also been several players that have been selected for the Midlands Rugby Academy Developing Player Programme: Jonnie Perkins, Aayan

Colts Rugby Colts Rugby continues to be a great

Saro and Harrison Cox who has also been selected for the London Irish Developing Player Programme. The Yearlings B Team enjoyed a good season playing nine, winning six and losing three matches with two huge wins at the beginning of the season against Pangbourne (53-0) and MCS (39-5). The highlight of the season was defeating Uppingham at home (14-12). The Yearlings C Team had a remarkable season winning eight of their 10 fixtures culminating in a huge 56-5 win over Radley in the final game of the season.

stepping stone on the pathway to Senior Rugby at the School, this season we have a seen number of pupils develop to the point where they are now capable of transitioning into the senior teams. This year Will Mowat got the chance to represent the 1st XV in their final game of the season against Malvern, pulled from the Colts A fixture on the adjacent pitch as an injury replacement after the 1st XV had already utilised their bench. During the VII’s season in the Spring Term Charlie Fletcher was selected to represent the 1st VII at Rosslyn Park. To support player development at U16 we have added strength & conditioning provision to the boys’ weekly schedules, this will give the boys an opportunity to develop physically in preparation for Senior Rugby. The Colts A won four out of the 10 fixtures over the course of the season with some brilliant wins over Pangbourne (57-5), Bloxham (24-7) and Malvern (53-0). The Colts B had some wonderful wins over the course of the season against Pangbourne (54-0), MCS (34-5) and Bloxham (50-5). In defeat they were still extremely competitive losing two fixtures by less than 10 points. Junior Colts Rugby The Junior Colts A team had a challenging season this year often facing opposition who were much more physically developed. However we have seen the group physically mature over the course of the year which should help them moving into the Colts next year and which they can couple with their incredible skill level. The Junior Colts B team had a stellar season under Willem Truter and Andrew Rush and were arguably the Team of the Year this season winning seven out of eight fixtures, scoring 318 points and only conceding 67 in the process. The Junior Colts C team also had a strong season playing six, winning four, drawing one and losing one. This suggest that the gap in talent across the Junior Colts is smaller than in other year groups with many of the B and C teams easily capable of playing up.
