Rhubarb October 2022

ST EDWARD’S

Teddies T20 Cricket Festival 14TH JUNE 2022 Teddies T20, St Edward’s inaugural Co-Ed Cricket Festival, took place in the stunning surroundings of theWormsley Estate. It was a fantastic day of cricket and community with over 200 people in attendance; the weather was glorious and local primary school children enjoyed cricket workshops organised by Oxfordshire County Cricket and Chance to Shine. Our girls' 1st XI won their match against Downe House by 141 runs with Aimee Diab (Avenue, 2021) being the first girl at Teddies to score her first century! The boys' 1st XI were also victorious against Eton, winning by 47 runs.

OSE EVENTS

Well done to all who took part, organised and supported the day; we look forward to seeing you again next year.

OSE Post-Teddies Panel for Lower Sixth 15TH JUNE 2022

Lower Sixth pupils and parents were able to hear from a range of OSE who shared their experience of life after Teddies, including reasons why they chose the courses and subjects they studied, what they did with their gap years, and why some chose not to go to university at all.Thank you to OSE Alex Barrington Brown (Kendall, 2016-2021), Milly Bracey (Jubilee, 2016-2020), Bea Nicholls (Mac's, 2016-2021) and Casper Sunley (Sing's, 2011-2016) who all shared their experiences so generously and provided many useful top tips for our Lower Sixth.

Royal Henley Regatta 1ST & 2ND JULY 2022

more than sufficient to overcome an illness-affected Teddies VIII in the second round. They stunned everyone by then overturning favourites, Eton College, before the final twist in the story as St Paul’s found even better form to take the PE title. Another first for Teddies is the emergence of a squad of girls, not only capable of forming an VIII but one that pre-qualifies AND gets selected in the draw. That same draw was responsible for setting them against the NSR champions Henley RC.The girls got faster with each of the three encounters this season but it was not quite enough to progress. OSE were in abundance as ever on the water as well as on the Stewards’ Lawn for those that run the event. Nine OSE contested eight events though four did not progress past

The ups and downs of Teddies’ Henley experience this year didn’t distract the Rhubarb crowd from coming together to meet in style for ‘tea’ on Friday and, for the first time this year, for a Lion Meadow drink at lunchtime on Saturday! There were OSE of all vintages, looking splendid, wearing the famous Rhubarb with pride and mingling with many 1st VIII Henley blazers; all very pleasing to see, sandwiched between considerably smaller numbers at the Radley and Abingdon tents! That said, at least the Radley supporters needed to pace themselves for the full (now) six days of the regatta having found tremendous form since National Schools Regatta –
