contract extension at Gloucestershire to keep him at the Seat Unique Stadium until at least the end of the 2024 season. Left-hand bat and right-arm off-spinner, Hammond, 26, is a product of the Gloucestershire Cricket Academy and has made 119 appearances for the Club since making his debut vs Yorkshire at Headingley in 2013 (in his Lower Sixth year!) In 2022 alone, Hammond has scored 739 runs, the most of any Gloucestershire player so far this year! JULIAN LAWTON SMITH (Mac’s, 1967-1971) At the AGM of the Association of Cricket Statisticians (ACS) which was held in March, Julian Lawton Smith was awarded the Brooke Lambert Trophy as Cricket Statistician of the Year for 2021.This recognised his management of the project to collect and publish definitive match scores for all Minor County matches from 1895 to 1914. His role was originally as the Oxfordshire representative but for the last 10 years, he has led the project which has seen 21 books published over the last 23 years. The ACS is the leading body on cricket statistics and their President advises the ICC on relevant matters as the game expands to new competitions and formats. Previous winners of the award have included TMS statisticians Bill Frindall and Andrew Samson so Julian is in good company! As OSE may recall, Julian produced another statistical work in 2019 with the publication of a book celebrating 50 years of St Edward's Martyrs in the Cricketer Cup. Copies remain

University. Remarkably, his PhD is the first in the world focused on ‘Surf Therapy’! Jamie's PhD builds upon his previous work founding theWave Project in Scotland which provides a safe space to support vulnerable young people through surfing. He said, ‘I think people see surfers as guys who just sit around and don't want to do any real work but actually there are a lot of organisations around the world really harnessing surfing as a vehicle for good in mental health, physical health and societal change.’ Jamie first experienced surfing through a trip run by the late Mr Lambe and dedicated his PhD to him, as outlined in the below that is taken from his thesis: Dedicated to Jonny Lambe who introduced me to the joy of surfing, who taught me to question and investigate with due rigor, and who inspired me to combine both for the benefit of those in need. WILL MYERS (Tilly’s, 1998-2003) Will Myers set out with three friends to support Ukrainian refugees by driving to the eastern border of Poland and delivering vital supplies to the Rzeszów branch of the Red Cross. They appealed for £10,000 to facilitate this incredible feat but in the end fundraised over £25,000! All additional funds raised were donated to the Polish Red Cross. Sharing their experiences, the group wrote: We initially set out to provide support by delivering vital supplies to the Red Cross in Poland (PCK), specifically the branch in Rzeszów.This branch of the Polish Red Cross, via a depot in Przeworsk headed up by Lukas, are working tirelessly to sort and pack vital supplies, a constant stream of which are flowing from all over Europe. It was heart-warming to see a team of volunteers from the Netherlands in several trucks unloading as we pulled into town.
